Nissan has
unveiled Datsun GO. The new hatchback car will be priced under Rs. 4 Lakhs.
Datsun GO will be seen on Indian road early next year. The car will be powered
by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine producing 68 PS and 104 Nm. The engine
is same as in Nissan Micra Active and will have 5-speed manual transmission.
Though the mileage figures are not out, it is believed that Datsun GO will have
better fuel efficiency than Nissan Micra Active which is about 19.49 Kmpl (ARAI
Tested).
So what are
the key features that one should look in Datsun GO?
- Datsun Go is decently styled car having muscular looks. One can see lot of design elements from other cars such as Maruti Ertiga from the front, Alto 800 or Etios Liva from rear!
- Go will provide good interior space with ample legroom and has the same wheel base as Nissan Micra (2450mm)
- It has front bench seat and can seat 3 people at the front.
- The gear lever is neatly mounted on the dashboard and this allows the third person to sit at the front.
- The front seat is a single piece unit with integrated headrests.
- The handbrake is placed next to the gear knob.
- The door handles, AC vents and instrument cluster are the same that we see in Nissan Micra
- Lot of cost cutting elements are visible. There are no rear power windows, internally adjustable rear view mirrors, cup holders, rear wiper, defogger and fog lamps. It has single wiper, black coloured rear view mirrors, single-din audio system and open glove box.
Datsun GO will compete
with the popular entry level hatchback especially Maruti Suzuki WagonR, A Star,
Hyundai i10 and Chevrolet Beat. But all the eyes are on the final price and
fuel efficiency figures, the key indicators about a car’s success in this
segment. Moreover, Nissan needs to improve the service network.
Datsun GO looks promising. Any diesel version on cards?
ReplyDeleteNIssan may consider diesel models in future.:)
DeleteI feel Nissan is going to directly hit Maruti Suzuki with DATSUN brand. Even other brands has to keep a watch on this development. Nissan now targets the masses with this low cost quality brand.:d
ReplyDeleteBefore DATSUN GO arrives,I think Nissan will stop selling Micra Active.
ReplyDeleteDatsun Go looks muscular and good. Nissan Cars are better known for low maintenence but they have to get the trust of people that Maruti and Hyundai enjoy!
